About

HI,

I created this blog to help take away Ruff days with the smile only a dog can give you.   I have 16 year old golden retriever (Scooby) and a rescue eight year old  Shar Pei (Rice).  This Christmas my family rescued a 14 week golden retriever (Maverick).  He was left outside a veterinarian’s office with parvo to die.

Thank you for visiting!

Our latest Rescue

We rescued Rice about two years ago. She is 8 and very sweet.

  7. Hi, thank you for following my blog!

    • Does your blog have a contact page? I’m haivng trouble locating it but, I’d like to send you an e-mail. I’ve got some ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great website and I look forward to seeing it develop over time.

  8. Dear No Ruff… I saw you came by & enjoyed what I wrote today enough to hit the Follow, so I came by to say thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Once I looked at your home page, I also signed up to hear when you post, as I’ve been a dog/cat/almost any creature friend all my life.

One of my earliest memories is holding on to our old long haired mutt named Butch (a female), toddling beside her as she patiently taught me to walk. Just this past November, my old friend Noah, 17 & 1/2 years old grew too weak, and had to give up the ghost. It was hard, but a time comes to all of us, and we had almost 17 years together; he was 10 months when we got him from the Humane Society shelter the day before he would have been put down. He showed us his appreciation with a lifetime of loyalty and love.

….anywho, I’m tearing up, so I’ll just say, I’ll be back. I hope you continue to enjoy my stuff ( er, work….); I post every day, for 198 days straight now on this site, and elsewhere before that. I’ve got a lot of stuff that has to come out of my head, before it sends my angst level through the roof. So, one might say it’s my daily prophylaxis, or medicine, if you will, against the assaults of mental illness that otherwise would ensue…. take care out there…. whether they’re watching you or not, it’s a dangerous world out there.

    I’ll be back….

  17. I Hope this is OK with you, I would like to share a Resue’s Poem with you and all your friends:

    The Meaning of Rescue

Now that I’m home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm bed,
I’d like to open my baggage lest I forget.
There is so much to carry
    So much to forget

Hmm yes, there it is, right on top:
Let’s unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn’t good enough for they didn’t want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
    Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things and take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
    To put away my baggage,
    To never repack?
I pray that you do – I’m so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
    Will you still want me?

    • Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog proaftlm are you using for this site? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another proaftlm. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good proaftlm.

  39. hello. Thanks for dropping by and following my little blog. As a newbie dog owner it’s all a bit bewildering and exciting – and scary. I’ll be checking in regularly here for a look at soem of your cute photos and stories. Love your puppy picture.

  40. So jealous – not in a position to have a dog at the moment but my parents bought a golden retriever / lab cross the year I was born which was a constant companion until I was 16. He was my first real experience of the emptiness when a friend dies.

He gets to so to work with us everyday where there is plenty of attention waiting for him. And treats!

  70. Hi, thank you for following my blog! I think your blog is amazing, your dogs are beautiful and the fact that they are rescued makes them and you just a little more special. I took home a gorgeous Rottweiler a few years ago, he was nine years old and the owners were going to euthanize him at our clinic if he didn’t get a home! All because they were moving to Australia. I understand circumstances change but honestly he was part of their life for nine years, NINE years, thats nine years of unconditional love and that’s how they repay him. He was an amazing dog, who is now sadly missed. I look forwards to more of your blogs.

  71. Hi thankyou for following our blog! 🙂

  72. Thanks for following my blog. As you can tell I’m a real animal lover. In fact I’m no longer allowed to go to shelters or visit puppies without adult supervision! I have trained all 3 of our dogs to work physical therapy with me. I will enjoy checking out your posts of the dogs.

    • Be careful tanikg medical advice from Yahoo Answers. Some of the answers to your last question were bizarre, especially the one about masturbation causing torsion of the testis. One testis larger than the other may be a result of mumps, but you should seek proper medical advice about this in your case.Sperm count tests involve examining a fresh semen sample. They are not expensive as tests go, but obviously require some privacy to produce. Talk to your doctor about this.

  87. There is nothing like the presence of an animal to bring contentment and happiness. I am a cashier in a medium-sized hardware store, and while we welcome all dogs, I would say that I see 2-3 each day that I work. I call it puppy-therapy, and it always brings a smile. 92. HooOOOOOOOOOWWWWwwwwLLLLLLLoooooooooo! Welcome to the Pack and thanks for the visit! Cool blog, the photos are awesome and definitely make a ruff day good 🙂 Those last two are soooooo cute!

Was looking at the full size photos of your own dogs…Maverick is gorgeous and looks wonderful and happy and well recovered from the parvo…and Scooby! He doesn’t look 16 yrs! You must be doing an amazing job with your dogs to keep them so fit and healthy looking at that age 🙂 And Rice looks lovely too, love the name! Met my 1st Shar Pei “in the flesh” so to speak just recently and they are very endearing 🙂

    • They are definitely part of the family. Most mornings the family walks the dogs in a canyon where they can run free for 45 minutes before school.

      • No wonder they all look so contented and happy, they are all obviously having a great life with you and your family. And being allowed to run free and be dogs together as a pack will be so much more fulfilling for them 🙂

  93. Oh, please forgive my tardiness in thanking you for recently visiting my blog and deciding to follow it!

And most importantly, thank you for your taking in these wonderful dogs and–as is obvious–caring for them with all your heart and soul!

(I have a work associate who is about to get a dog…and I am trying very hard to talk her into getting a shelter/rescued one rather than going to a breeder…)

(Both times she stayed dead; not talking about other times).I can’t think that I’ve ever drifted away from a story immediately following a character death, but I know that lineups definitely have an affect on my interest in following stories. I say I’m an X-men’ fan, but there are a lot of classic’ stories I haven’t bothered with because they don’t have Scott or Jean in them.

  113. Thank you for reading my blog! I love your quotes and pictures of puppies, though in real life I’m usually resentful towards dogs for barking at me while I run and/or sniffing my crotch.

  117. Thanks so much for following our blog. We love yours. Your dogs are adorable.

  118. HI! Thank you for stopping my blog. I really like your dog pics & the quotes. I want to copy & paste each one of them. I think that person’s choice of quotes says a lot about the person and I believe that yours show me you are warm-hearted, fun, and loving. You don’t have a German Shorthaired Pointer. I’ll have to send you pics of the one I adopted off the streets a year ago. Literally. He was lost. I found his owners 2 months later on Craigslist & they didn’t want him back. So, he now lives here…in a small condo. This hunting dog full of energy who can run like a horse shares my small space & is super sweet and loving.

  119. This is a great tip particularly to those new to the blogosphere. Brief but very precise info… Many thanks for sharing this one. A must read article!
